Grey cells are missing observations, never zero mentions. A zero appears only when a retrieved page contains enough extractable text and no whole-word occurrence of “Trump.” The rate is the mention count divided by the word count; the chart multiplies it by 1,000 for readability.

Homepages offer the simplest comparison. Whole-site totals cover the pages actually collected from Wayback in that month; they are not a reconstruction of every page that existed. Changing page coverage, site redesigns, and changing word counts can affect the results. The chart of the trend uses only candidates with a usable homepage in all six months.

Counts use static HTML text, including navigation and footers. Scripts, styles, metadata, explicitly hidden elements, and the Wayback toolbar are excluded. Text embedded in pictures or videos and text loaded only by JavaScript is not counted. These are counts of the word, not a judgment about the campaign’s intent or sentiment.

Roster sources: The Green Papers and Ballotpedia; monthly captures: Internet Archive Wayback Machine. Each candidate and capture has a source link in the data. Louisiana’s November House open-primary candidates and nonvoting delegate candidates are included. The supplementary group contains people listed with Republican affiliation by a source but another current party or independent label. The roster is a sourced census attempt as of October 14, 2026, not independent certification of every state ballot.
